I love San Antonio (wonderful place to live) , but it isn’t a great real estate market with a lot of appreciation. You would have to do starter homes in the right part of town/
I’ve lived in San Antonio for almost 60 years and I’ve seen a lot of
real estate booms and busts. A few things for you: I’m not saying
the flip market has topped out but it’s close to it. It’s there, but you
have to hunt for the good deals unless you want to spend a lot
to repair/upgrade the fixer uppers – there’s a lot of those to be had.
There are still a lot of new subdivision developements going up
and buyers are going there leaving a good supply of pre owned
homes. Rentals are commanding good dollars now and will for
quite a while – a lot of people just can’t afford the down pymt.
now. The real hot areas are north and south of S.A. but the west
is catching up fast – the east is more long term. San Antonio is
a nice place to live but we lost that small town feel 20 years ago
( sad to say ). I simply got tired of the traffic situation but then, I
lived in one of the more congested areas. My GF and I moved
40 miles north of S.A. and it’s beautiful here ( the beginning of the
hill country ). I think the real money to be made is in foreclosures
because a lot of ARM’s are slapping people in the face. If you can
wait 5-7-10 years – invest in land. Good luck to you and come and
enjoy our community for a while.
